We're right in the middle of the sweltering Summer season, which means there are several people travelling around and missing updates. If you've missed any of our interviews, please visit the menu to the right. You'll find all of our interviews archived there, plus some pretty righteous articles written by authors Garrett Cook and Matthew Revert.
So far this summer we've had varied interviews: Reverend Steven Rage, Douglas Clegg, Christopher Moore, Mario Acevedo, Stephen Mark Rainey, Jeff Burk, James Morrow (an excellent interview), Garrett Cook, S. G. Browne, and yours truly. That's a lot of talent. So, take a moment and spend some time, just in case you missed some of these.
UPDATES:
Kill Shakespeare
We interviewed Anthony and Conor a few weeks back and I expressed my bromantic love for their creation. "Kill Shakespeare" is a comic book that imagines a "justice league" of sorts made up of Shakespearean heroes - all led by the inestimable Hamlet. They are pitted against - as tends to be the case - a nefarious league of evil made up of Lady MacBeth (who has never been sexier), Iago, and Richard III. It's great stuff.
I was treated to a sneak peek of issue #3, and I've got to say, this series just keeps getting better. This newest edition is heavy on Falstaff (which in my book is most excellent). And, the scenario reads almost like a Star Trek episode. It's a predicament that I could see Captain Kirk finding his way into. Here's the description of this chapter:
Kill Shakespeare #3: “The Fool Doth Think He’s Wise” In this exciting third issue of the series that is reinventing Shakespeare, Richard III attempts to dominate his rival Macbeth - with the help of the alluring and deadly Lady Macbeth. Meanwhile Hamlet and Falstaff flee from the relentless assassins Iago has unleashed. But does Falstaff’s jolly exterior hide a dangerous secret?
Kudos, guys!
David W. Barbee's Carnageland Coloring Book
A little while back we chatted with David Barbee about his book "Carnageland". At that time he was discussing a nifty little promotion featuring the coloring book version of Carnageland. Let me say this to those who scoff at a coloring book: Shut it! The thing that makes this unique is that Barbee hand draws and crafts these himself. He's an excellent comic book illustrator, and to receive a coloring book that has been customized and hand drawn is pretty groovtastic. Here's just a sampling of what you can expect. If you've not yet read "Carnageland", please do so. It reads like a video game - so you get the brain rot, but you also get smarter because you'll find yourself reading a book. Ta Da! Also, visit his website: http://davidwbarbee.wordpress.com/2010/06/10/free-sample-from-carnageland-the-official-coloring-book/ for more information on the promotion and if it's still going on. Believe me, kids, I was jealous I didn't get one of these.
Reverend Steven Rage
It's been a good run for the Reverend of the macabre, Steven Rage. We interviewed him on June 3rd, mostly discussed his book "You Morbid Westphal", which is an excellent underground horror tale. But we did discuss his "Brutal Bible Story", Pilate. Currently, Pilate is available for under $7. So, if you need to round out that Amazon.com order, or you were holding off because of economic turmoil, now's your chance to order it. It really is quite good!
We'll be back again next week, so look for us then. Until then, kids, keep reading!
